Multiple Intelligence

The concept of intelligence that until now is known is derived from AlfersBinet. Intelligence is the ability to solve problems or create products that are valued in the cultural environment. Thus the size of intelligence will vary between cultural environments with each other. For example, people living in dry areas will become intelligent because they can fight to survive.

Howard Gardner (1983) in his terror of multiple intelligences or multiple intelligences explains the scope of human potential. This theory has contributed substantially to the world of education, which previously focused more on language and mathematical intelligence. According to him IQ is not the only measuring tool to know one's ability, but there are other very important intelligences, namely: linguistic, logic-mathematics, visual-spatial, musical, kinesthetic, interpersonal (social), intrapersonal, And naturalists.

For educators the idea of multiple intelligence is an inspiration in enriching the curriculum of school education, especially in enriching the method of delivering the subject matter by utilizing the seven potentials of human intelligence. The eight intelligences are:

1.    Linguistic Intelligence (Linguistic Intelligence), the intelligence expressed in the form of the ability to read, write, and communicate by using words. Writers, journalists, writers, orators, and comedians are examples of linguistic intelligence.

2.    Logical-mathematical intelligence (logical_matematical) Intelligence, ie intelligence expressed in the form of reasoning and calculating, thinking of things in a logical and systematic way. This capability is widely developed by engineers, scientists, economists, accountants and detectives.

3.    Visual-spatial intelligence (visual-Spatical Intelligence), the intelligence expressed in the form of the ability to visualize the final form of something. Imagining something in the mind's eye. Architects, artists, strategic planners, photographers, sculptors, sailors are people who have visual-spatial intelligence.

4.    Musical Intelligence (Musical Intelligence), the intelligence expressed in the form of the ability to create or create musical compositions. Keep the rhythm. Everyone has a good basic musical intelligence and can develop it. This intelligence is owned by composers, musicians, and recording experts.

5.    Physical-Kinestetic Intelligence (Body-KinesteticIntelegce), the intelligence expressed in the form of the ability to use physical skills to solve problems, create products, or convey ideas and emotions. This ability is featured by athletes, dancers and actors, or those who work in construction. Many physically gifted and skilled people use tanga not realizing that they do not show a high form of intelligence, and are of equal value to other intelligences.

6.    Interpersonal (Social) Intelligence (Interpersonal (social) Intelligence), the intelligence expressed in bnetukkemmpuan work effectively with others relate to others and show empathy and understanding, pay attention to motivation and purpose. This intelligence is pentinig for teachers, facilitators, therapists, politicians, religious leaders and salesmen.

7.    Intrapersonal Intelligence (Intelligence Intelligence), the intelligence expressed in terms of self-analysis and self-reflection, is able to contemplate and judge one's ability, make plans and goals, and know oneself. This intelligence can be used to study success and failure as a guide for good in the future. Philosophers, counselors, and people who reach the top of achievement are the people who have this intelligence.
8.    Naturalist Intelligence (Naturalist Intelligence), the intelligence expressed in the form of the ability to recognize the flora and fauna, living in harmony with nature and making productive use. Farmers, biologists, botanists, and the environment are the people who have this intelligence.

Like what has been in advance, education in schools generally teaches matter related to two intelligences. This is because the IQ tests applied so far are letters and numbers. Thus puls with IQ test results are often used to predict students' success in school, because the materials taught and how to teach children in school depend on both types of intelligence, ie language and logic-mathematics.
